Madonna building school in Malawi

Washington (ANI): American pop singer Madonna has revealed that she plans on building an all girls school in Malawi. Madge is following in the footsteps of talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who also founded an all-girls school in Africa. The 'Material Girl' is in the process of applying to build the educational establishment in Malawi, where she adopted her son David in 2006.

"I'm buying land and getting permission to build a girl's school. The women will play a big role in the future and rebirth of Malawi," Contactmusic quoted her as telling American magazine Elle. Oprah Winfrey had co-founded the all-girls Henley-On-Klip Leadership Academy in South Africa in 2006. Madonna currently runs a Malawi based charity project, but she isn't the only U.S. star helping students in the African nation.
